Manuscript Preparation Guidelines
Important General Instructions for Authors
-
Read All Guidelines: Authors are required to read these Manuscript Preparation Guidelines and Jurnal Rekayasa Industri (JRI) general "Author Guidelines" in their entirety before submitting a manuscript. Careful preparation according to these instructions is crucial for a smooth review and publication process.
-
Use of Template: All manuscripts must be prepared using the official Jurnal Rekayasa Industri (JRI) Microsoft Word template, which can be downloaded from the journal website. The template includes preset formatting for page layout, fonts, headings, and other stylistic elements.
-
Collaboration & Institutional Diversity: Jurnal Rekayasa Industri (JRI) encourages collaborative research involving multi-institutional and international authors to foster the global exchange of knowledge in industrial engineering and management systems.
-
Manuscript Withdrawal: Authors are strongly discouraged from withdrawing a submitted manuscript once it has entered the publication process (e.g., peer review, copyediting, layout). Jurnal Rekayasa Industri (JRI) invests significant time and resources in processing each submission.
-
Similarity Check: All submitted manuscripts are subject to a similarity check using plagiarism detection software (e.g., Turnitin). Manuscripts with a similarity score of more than 20% (excluding properly cited quotations and the reference list) will be returned or rejected without further review. Authors must ensure the originality of their work and appropriately cite all sources.
1. CATEGORY
-
Research Article: Involves original empirical research, system modeling, experimental design, optimization algorithms, action research, market surveys, or laboratory research in Industrial Engineering and Management.
-
Review Article: Provides a comprehensive summary, systematic analysis (SLR), or bibliometric review of existing research on a specific industrial engineering topic, citing a significant number of primary references (minimum 15 references).
-
Technical Paper: Describes and evaluates technical products, industrial processes, production systems, or services, focusing on practical application and innovation in manufacturing and service industries.
-
Conceptual Paper: Develops hypotheses, frameworks, or theoretical models without being primarily based on empirical research, offering comparative studies of existing theories and concepts.
-
Case Study: Describes actual engineering interventions, field implementations, or in-depth analyses of specific industrial problems or entities within manufacturing/service organizations.
2. LANGUAGE
-
Manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Rekayasa Industri (JRI) must be written in clear, concise, and grammatically correct English or Indonesian (English is highly recommended for faster processing and global visibility).
-
Thorough proofreading by the authors or a professional language editing service is strongly recommended before submission.
-
Manuscripts must maintain strong logical cohesion and smooth transitions between ideas across all sections.
3. FORMAT AND LENGTH
-
Template: Authors must use the official Jurnal Rekayasa Industri (JRI) Template for manuscript preparation.
-
File Format: Manuscripts must be submitted as Microsoft Word files (
.docor.docx). Other file formats (e.g., LaTeX, PDF) are not acceptable for the main manuscript file. -
Page Format: The Jurnal Rekayasa Industri (JRI) template uses preset single-column page layouts. Margins, line spacing, font type, and font sizes must not be altered by the authors.
-
Main Body Sections: For Research Articles, the main body must be strictly divided into four main sections: INTRODUCTION, METHOD, RESULTS AND DISCUSSION, and CONCLUSION.
-
Manuscript Length: For Research Articles, the combined length of the main body (Intro to Conclusion) should typically be between 4,000 and 7,000 words (excluding Abstract, Keywords, Tables, Figures, References, and Declarations).

Final approval of the version to be published; AND
-
Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work.
-
-
Ghost, gift, guest, or paid authorship is strictly prohibited.
-
Roles such as general supervision, acquisition of funding, or language editing alone do not qualify an individual for authorship (these should be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section).
6. ABSTRACT
-
Paragraph & Word Count: Single paragraph, maximum 250 words.
-
Structure: Must provide a complete narrative overview containing:
-
Background & Problem Statement: Broad context and specific research gap.
-
Objective: Primary goal of the study.
-
Methodology: Core approaches, tools, sample sizes, or simulation techniques used.
-
Key Results: Principal findings and numerical improvements/insights.
-
Practical Implication: Managerial, technical, or industrial significance of the work.
-
7. INTRODUCTION SECTION
-
Content: Contextualize the problem within Industrial Engineering and Management systems, define research objectives, review prior works, identify explicit research gaps, state novelty, and outline theoretical/practical rationale.
-
Reference Requirements:
-
Must cite at least 15 primary references (prioritizing peer-reviewed journal articles from the last 5 years).
